My mother and I are complete polar opposites when it comes to tastes, especially in books. So, knowing that the Vic Brown trilogy are her favourite books of all time, I did not go anywhere near them until finally last year my curiosity got the better of me.

After I had read the first book A Kind of Loving, I asked my mum to bring the two sequels on a joint holiday - and I finished both within the same week.
