Oh, geez. Stoney is a character straight out of Jane Austen. Or, maybe he was a blueprint. Or probably more likely, his type was still so prevalent in Austen's time that she immortalised the type in her books.
Anyway, this books is a fab look at Georgian history and society around the "main characters". It's really more of a well-rounded look at social convention, marriage, domestic abuse, and law in Georgian Britain.
