If it hadn't been for Wanda's Summer Carnival of Children's Literature, I would not have heard of The Egypt Game.
The story of a group of kids who start out as strangers but grow close through their interest in Ancient Egypt was as charming as it was edgy. I seriously had not expected the dark turn the story would take. I can only imagine that the book would be even scarier if read by a kid.
What I loved most: the cuddly toy octopus called "Security".
