Greene-land Adventures - Last one...

The Ministry of Fear - Alan Furst, Graham Greene

It's a little bit sad that this adventure is coming to an end but at the same I'm really looking forward to The Ministry of Fear.

From my observations, Greene's writing seems to have changed dramatically in the 1940s and it could just be that The Ministry of Fear is the one book to showcase this change. I'm hoping that this is the book where Greene steps away from writing popular thrillers which could easily be screenplays for Hollywood gangster movies and develops the depth and complexity that run through his later work and focus on the arbitrariness of the human condition.

The books on my currently reading shelf won't mind being on hold for a bit, either.

Early in 2014, I set myself a challenge to read all of the novels by Graham Greene - with the reasonable exception of those that are out of print.

No time limit, no rules, no particular order - this is just for the plain fun of it.
