I re-read Chapter 3 yesterday as I had questions. It really is one of those books that holds so much information that I could put sticky notes on almost every page.

 

It made me smile a little that the tallest tree Czerski mentions should happen to be in Humboldt County (one of several HCs, I assume...).

 

It was kinda unsettling to think about the spread of tuberculosis bacteria and how viscosity plays a part in the difficulty of containing outbreaks of epidemics. Again, I was reminded of Humboldt and his trip through an area that had been riddles with anthrax (marvellously described in The Invention of Nature) - I still have no idea how Humboldt and his fellow travellers survived that trip!

 

I laughed about the pigeon on the treadmill.

 

But the question that I want to find out more about is concerns resonance, frequency, and more specifically if the splashing of tea against the side of a mug would become more or less if I ran with the mug instead of walk briskly or slow my walk down.
